Machinist, Lathe 2 - Swing Shift
About The Position
FM Industries is a manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build-to-print work, precision-machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal-spray coatings, supporting customers from prototype through production. The CNC Lathe Machinist 2 sets up and operates repeat or proven parts of simple to high complexity with minimal direction from an area lead or supervisor. The role follows shop-paper procedures, handles quantity counts and labeling, performs non-conformance-related activities, manages DNC program uploads and downloads, inspects and measures parts, and reads blueprints and tooling instructions to meet specifications. The swing shift is 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; training takes place on the day shift for two weeks.
Requirements
- Minimum three to five years of work experience.
- Knowledge of CNC programming and G and M code.
- Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices.
- Demonstrated ability to operate computer numerical control machines.
Nice To Haves
- Enrollment in vocational education or completion of vocational education.
- Four years of formal apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes for repeat or proven parts ranging from simple to high complexity, with minimal direction.
- Use shop-paper procedures, including updates, signatures, and stamps.
- Count quantities and label parts.
- Perform activities related to non-conformance.
- Upload and download tool programs using DNC communications.
- Inspect and measure parts to maintain statistical records.
- Read blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts to determine specifications.
