About The Position

This position is responsible for performing machining tasks with minimal support from supervisors or higher-level machinists. The role involves interpreting engineering prints, setting up and operating various machine tools, and ensuring the quality and specifications of finished workpieces. The Machinist III is expected to work safely, contribute positively to the team, manage job expenses, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Successfully completed all required training curriculum to be designated Machinist III.
  • Moderate level capability in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant Dealer software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and successfully completes required training classes.
  • Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental and contamination control policies, procedures and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment.
  • Interprets engineering prints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements with minimal support from supervisor or higher level machinists.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media with minimal support from supervisor or higher level machinists.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications with minimal support from supervisor or higher level machinists.
  • Fit and assemble parts, as necessary.
  • Approaches work in a positive manner, maintains conduct that is supportive of the work Team and sets the standard for others to follow.
  • Contributes to Team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Monitors job expenses versus estimates and ensures that the supervisor is aware of any cost over run, prior to the job being completed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
