About The Position

Set-up and operate machine tools and metal fabricating machines, to completely and independently perform any operation within their capacity. Ability to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine utilizing conversational programming and related software. Program milling machines and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and condition switches. Calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Layout, fabricate and assemble intricate precision parts and assemblies, sheet metal items and shop tooling devices, including small dies, jigs and fixtures incidental to work being performed to exacting tolerances or extremely close dimensions. Work from sketches and drawings in fabricating and assembling to exacting tolerances, small intricate assemblies, exercising extreme care to ensure proper adjustments, clearances and alignments. As required, operate power-forming or cutting equipment in working and forming sheet metal stock to desired specifications and characteristics. Perform bench work finishing, assembling and fitting. Perform grinding operations on cutting tools and parts. Work from complex detail blueprints, sketches, templates, master models or verbal instructions, and use precision-gauge instruments in projecting and laying out angular and linear dimensions. Required to become qualified as a machinist.
