About The Position

As a general machinist, you must be proficient in the operation of manual and CNC controlled equipment. This role involves performing diversified work to close tolerances, determining feeds and speeds, and potentially assisting in the teardown and repair of your own machine. You may also be required to make ordinary tools, jigs, or fixtures as directed. The position requires the ability and willingness to operate any machine tool as necessary, acting as a temporary operator where needed, and shifting between machine tools during a work shift.

Requirements

• Proficient in the operation of manual and CNC controlled equipment
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical degree/certificate in machinery or 4-5 years of related experience
• 18 years old at the time of hire to operate equipment
• Ability and willingness to operate any machine tool as necessary

Responsibilities

• Making required setups
• Reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Utilization of close tolerance measuring instruments
• Performing diversified work to close tolerances
• Determining feeds and speeds
• Assisting in teardown and repair of own machine
• Making ordinary tools, jigs, or fixtures as directed
• Providing sufficient basic hand tools to properly perform duties
• Exercising care in preventive maintenance on tools or equipment
• Operating any machine tool as necessary
• Acting as temporary operator on machine tools where needed
• Shifting from one machine tool to another during a work shift
