About The Position

This role is for a Machinist A, a full-time position located in Simi Valley, CA. The company is seeking to fill this role through an exclusive confidential search, with details shared with qualified applicants. The Machinist A will help the team produce precision components by setting up and operating CNC and conventional machining equipment, ensuring parts meet specifications and production targets. The work directly impacts manufacturing output and quality for the organization. The position is primarily onsite on 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 1:30 PM–10:00 PM) with occasional Saturdays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant experience operating CNC machines independently
  • Proven ability to set up and run conventional machining tools and other production equipment
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (must be able to demonstrate use of caliper and micrometer during interview)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise judgment with minimal supervision
  • Basic math proficiency and commitment to quality control
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on training in machining or a related field
  • Experience with semi-repetitive and specialized machine operations

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines and other production equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders, shear cutters, hydraulic presses, drill presses, stamping presses)
  • Perform machine setups, adjustments, and routine maintenance to maintain efficient production
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and manuals to determine machining sequences and meet specifications
  • Choose appropriate cutting tools, adjust speeds and feeds, and ensure proper tool setups
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to verify product quality and tolerance compliance
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement solutions to maintain peak performance
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and maintain quality standards
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance; may require nights, weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours as necessary
