About The Position

The Machinist A Interacts with all manufacturing, engineering, Quality and support departments as necessary. The employee will perform routine and repetitive work while maintaining a high standard of quality and quantity. Reports directly to the Precision Manufacturing Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent certificate required.
  • Minimum one-year prior machining experience.
  • Use of advanced trades mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to use and read calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Work from engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture and assemble precision parts.
  • Operate and understand manual and CNC machinery
  • Must understand basic program structure and perform shop floor programs as required
  • Use gages and instrumentation for pass/fail inspection of ultra-precision tolerances.
  • Must be able to work independently and use good judgment.
  • Problem Solve in the following areas: Quality, Tooling, Productivity,
  • Operate and understand manual and automatic grinders, milling machines, lapping machines.
  • Support Lean Initiatives / Continuous Improvement.
  • Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting ability a must.
  • Make necessary inspection checks and chart dimensions as required, to ensure accuracy of parts and report to customer for their efforts in improving process reliability.
  • Exhibit self-direction and problem-solving skills.
  • During automatic cycle time operator is to perform miscellaneous operations such as preparing next piece for machine, simple deburring, or the operation of supplemental machines.
  • Utilize Circor Operating System (COS) visual management board for scheduling and reporting. The use of computer software and hardware is required.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as air mikes, micrometers, dial indicators, templates, feelers, gages of all types, form masters, scale, calipers, and electronic measuring equipment to maintain dimensions and tolerances as required.
  • Keep working area, machines, and equipment in a clean, orderly condition. Safeguard working area as necessary. Wear all safety equipment that is necessary on the job.
  • The ability to use all machining equipment. Tools include all basic cutting tools, boring heads, parallels, vee blocks, hand tools, and other necessary equipment. Hoist-operated cranes and other lifting equipment. Torque wrenches, hand and power grinders, files and sanding disc. etc.
  • Work from verbal or written instructions, with or without job tag instructions; read and work from blueprints, charts sketches, process specifications and masters. Perform all duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs. Consistently produce work of proper quality and of proper required quantity.
