About The Position

We are seeking a Machining Manager to lead and grow a team of machinists who are responsible for machining large-scale complex fabrications for submarines. AT&F is a major producer of components for construction cranes, mining equipment, defense projects, structural sections for shipbuilding, power industry related components, and specialty stainless steel fabrications. Our multiple facilities have over 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space and over 200 Team Members. AT&F is in its fourth generation of family leadership and is known for its forward-thinking, sophisticated, and professional approach while maintaining the values of a family-run firm. We are looking for individuals who are motivated by teamwork, purposeful work, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of programming and Machining experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years in large scale/large component CNC machining.
  • Programming Experience
  • Leadership and Management Experience
  • Good understanding of upkeep requirements for our equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprint/drawing specifications and GD&T.
  • Applied experience with various inspection methods (hand gages, CMM, etc.).
  • Proven ability to develop the machining skills of others.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Fanuc, Siemens, G code programming.
  • Our large Horizontal Boring Mills and Lathes use the Siemens Sinumerik One Controller with Digital Twin.
  • Basic computer skills for email, web-based communications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety programs, quality requirements, OPX initiatives, work instructions, and time keeping practices.
  • Lead and coordinate production team member activities to meet production schedules, quality standards, within estimated hours.
  • Utilize EOS Toolkit to coach your team, set clear expectations, and maintain effective relationships to drive retention.
  • Assist Team Members in completing jobs by troubleshooting and assuring they have the necessary tools, materials, and information to complete the jobs.
  • Review the production plan and expectations with Team Members and communicate priorities.
  • Understand what motivates your individual Team Members, mentor and if needed counsel to improve performance.
  • Promote AT&F's Core Values and Strategic Plan.
  • Identify and drive for continuous improvement in processes.
  • Drive quality improvements and support on-time delivery to meet customer success.
  • Continuously assess Staffing Needs based on business needs.
  • Actively grow the team through additional Team Members and training the Team on multiple assets and projects.
  • Maintenance knowledge for coordinating vendors, confirming issues, and following through on action needed to keep equipment operating.
  • Work with operators to understand variation in process times and improve efficiencies.
  • Ability to create programs for large, project-based parts with Gibbscam.
  • Quote new inquiries.
  • Review engineering prints, select and acquire appropriate tooling.
  • Purchase tooling and consumables.
  • Ability to create, catalogue and maintain CNC programs and set-up procedures.
  • Schedule equipment PM and contact service technicians to repair equipment.
  • Work with machinist troubleshooting issues with all large scale equipment.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
