Machine Shop Technician - Grind - Weekday Afternoon Shift

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician – Grinder, Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing, as the Machine Shop Technician - Grinding, you will be responsible for general grinding on the weekend night shift. Work Location: Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada Shift Hours – Weekday Afternoon (Monday-Thursday) 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Requirements
- Typically; High school diploma, and 3 - 5 years of experience in Grinding/ Lathe/ CNC Machining.
- Experience with machine shop practices, including lathe, Turning , Vhone and / or Grinding.
- Experience working to close tolerances and solid understanding of blueprint reading and all associated measuring equipment
- The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
Nice To Haves
- Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)
- 3 years of cylindrical grinding experience of large components.
Responsibilities
- ID and OD grinding of large chrome and HVOF plated aircraft components
- Participate in lean initiatives (i.e. 5S, TPM, process improvement teams)
- Communicate and co-ordinate priorities and process issues between operators and shifts
- Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Use of Cranes to move parts
- Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.
- Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell.
- Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 4-6 weeks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
