About The Position

Alicat Scientific, Inc., a manufacturer of flow and pressure instrumentation based in Tucson, Arizona, is seeking a reliable Shop Operator to join its weekend shift. The role involves hands-on work with machined parts and supporting shop operations, including assisting with lathes, horizontal mills, hydraulic saws, and potentially robot-fed vertical mills. It is presented as an opportunity to enter the machining field and grow into other technical roles through internal advancement. The schedule is Friday through Sunday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a full 40-hour workweek and potential overtime. Relocation to Tucson, Arizona 85743 is required before starting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and take ownership of the role.
• Relocation to Tucson, Arizona 85743 before starting work.

• Excel experience.
• Machine shop experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials according to job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists with machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and the workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow company safety protocols and standard procedures.
