About The Position

Alicat Scientific, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable Shop Operator to join its second shift in Tucson, Arizona. The role involves hands-on work with machined parts and assisting with lathes, horizontal mills, hydraulic saws, and robot-fed vertical mills. It offers on-the-job training and an opportunity to develop machining skills and advance internally into CNC machining and other technical roles. The position is full-time, in person, Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a 40-hour workweek and potential overtime. The stated pay range is $17–$18 per hour, based on prior experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and take ownership of the role.

Nice To Haves

• Excel experience is a plus.
• Machine shop experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials according to job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists with machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and the workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow company safety protocols and standard procedures.
