About The Position

ND Fairmont, a division of ND Paper, provides sheet converting solutions by transforming paper rolls into customized sheet sizes. The Equipment Operator oversees sheeter operations in the converting facility, including loading jumbo rolls, adjusting operational parameters, changing knives, conducting daily maintenance, and managing spare-parts inventory to support safe, efficient production and minimize waste. The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and product quality.

This is a swing-shift position with 12-hour shifts on a four-days-on, four-days-off schedule. The work takes place in a warehouse or manufacturing setting with noise and temperature variations.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret production work orders and machine settings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools for maintenance tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience operating sheeter machinery or similar converting equipment.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor sheeter machinery to cut, slit, and convert sheets according to production specifications.
• Safely load and unload jumbo rolls, ensuring proper alignment and tension control.
• Adjust machine settings to optimize performance, minimize waste, and maintain output quality.
• Replace and adjust blades as needed for precise, efficient cutting.
• Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and equipment inspections.
• Maintain an organized inventory of critical spare parts to help prevent downtime.
• Identify and resolve mechanical and operational issues to minimize disruptions and maintain productivity.
• Inspect finished sheets for accuracy, defects, and compliance with customer specifications.
• Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper PPE use.
• Adhere to workplace safety requirements and company policies.
