About The Position
John C. Nordt, a brand of LeachGarner, is hiring an experienced Machine Operator for its manufacturing facility in Roanoke. This is a career opportunity on the production team, with opportunities to apply existing skills and learn new processes and machine operations. The role operates on a four-day schedule, Monday through Thursday, on day shift, with no nights or weekends, in an HVAC climate-controlled facility. The Machine Operator sets up and operates production machines and melting furnaces, processes raw material and tubing, monitors output, addresses operating issues, and maintains activity logs and a clean, safe work area. Work takes place in a manufacturing environment that may involve loud noise, fluctuating hot or cold temperatures, and moving machinery; personal protective equipment is required. The position involves walking, standing, reaching, and occasional lifting of materials. The listed pay range is $20–$22 per hour. The starting rate is determined based on job-related factors, internal equity, market conditions, and business needs. LeachGarner is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Requirements
- Machine operator experience in a manufacturing production setting.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds multiple times throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand and speak English.
- Manual dexterity.
- Visual acuity.
- Personal protective equipment is required.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual production machines.
- Control and adjust machine settings.
- Feed raw material through machines.
- Straighten and trim tubing using hand tools, small spinning lathes, and a wet cut-off saw.
- Set up and operate melting furnaces.
- Check output to identify machine-related mistakes or flaws.
- Fix issues that occur during the shift.
- Maintain activity logs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
