Machine Operators perform semi-skilled manual duties requiring knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment, and safety precautions. Operators use equipment such as lasers, turrets, presses, and shears, including setup and preventive maintenance, to assist in manufacturing metal parts. The role requires independent judgment, the ability to understand blueprints and engineering drawings, and work that meets Wabash quality practices and ISO standards. Operators report to a supervisor, area manager, or department head. The position requires following safety policies, using required personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting defects and repair needs, and collaborating with production and maintenance colleagues. Operators may need to flex their schedules to meet production-team needs. Work may involve loud noise, fumes, airborne particles, welding, grinding dust, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme temperatures, low lighting, and confined spaces. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees may climb more than six feet using ladders or scaffolding and spend approximately 70% of a shift standing and 30% bending, stooping, or climbing. Wabash provides necessary training and offers vacation, paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with match, and a tuition reimbursement program.
