About The Position

This document establishes and describes the duties, authority, and responsibility of a Machine Operator at Novation Industries. Ultimately to comply with directives of the reporting manager any and all requests that do not discriminate, create unsafe practices or contradict state and federal labor laws.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of performing the “Machine Operator” based tasks at an intermediate level or better, and on a variety of workstations.
  • Must be capable of learning basic workstation “Operator” tool usage.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in a detailed manner and in accordance with our Core Values.
  • Must have good color recognition, (not color blind)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is highly desired
  • Experience in a manufacturing or injection molding environment is a plus
  • Capable of using a calculator and the necessary math skills to tabulate quantities.
  • Must be capable of understanding basic job instructions in both verbal and written form.
  • Must be able to understand and fill out production related forms, such as reject sheets and work center pulse sheets, and understand, or fill out, carton labels.
  • If English is not the first language, must be able to understand enough English to take instruction during emergency situations, and take basic instruction on job tasks with the addition of visual communications.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned production tasks at one or more workstations as assigned by the Lead Operator.
  • Must work at the work stations assigned by the Lead Operator. The Machine Operator does not get to decide which work stations they will work at.
  • When working at multiple workstations, consideration is to be given as to the amount of time between shifting workstations such as to avoid efficiency or quality issues.
  • Completes all forms in a timely and accurate manner as instructed by the Lead Operator or through training.
  • All tasks meet the designated quality and throughput requirements of all “Basic and Medium” difficulty Machine Operator jobs.
  • Tasks must be completed within the time allotted on the Bill of Material, or Work Center Pulse.
  • Tasks must be completed with a defect free manner, and defects, or quality issues, can only occur on an occasional basis.
  • When quality issues are observed, they are to be set aside and brought to the attention of the Lead Operator. They Blue, Yellow, Red bins are to be used to segregate suspect quality items.
  • Complies with the documented work instructions, or control plans associated with each job.
  • Obtain training on each job utilizing the job specific work instructions or control plan, and signs training record.
  • Reviews work instructions, control plans and other visual aids prior to starting tasks.
  • Completes any Machine Operator based inspection activities defined in the work instructions or control plan.
  • Complies with all safety, housekeeping, and time & attendance requirements.
  • Wears safety glasses at all times when on the production floor, and wears other personal protective equipment as instructed by the Lead Operator or as defined in the work instruction or control plan.
  • Keeps work area free of safety hazards, and notifies Lead Operator of any safety concerns.
  • Keeps work station clean and organized, including cleaning at the end of the shift.
  • Complies with the company time and attendance policy.
  • Will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
