About The Position

Set-up, adjust and safely operate a variety of machines to cut and slot partitions from several types of roll stock to specifications. This role requires the ability to recognize and address operating problems, perform routine machine maintenance, and ensure product quality. The Machine Operator III will also be responsible for recording production data, participating in cross-training, and promoting safe work practices within a team-based environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to walk and use verbal and listening skills
Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and telephone; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

Work from pattern to mount and adjust dies, guides, feed, speed, tension, etc.
Recognize and address operating problems, making adjustments for stock variations, worn dies, humidity, etc.
Move and change rolls, and perform routine machine repairs, including lubrication.
Move strip loads and scrap loads.
Operate machines and hand tools, hand and power trucks.
Use inspection and test gear such as board gauge, rule, patterns, and stop watch.
Take full responsibility for set-ups and/or work preparation, seeking coordinator's help under unusual circumstances.
Be responsible for product quality.
Record and report times and material produced.
Record and report production and/or equipment problems.
Answer questions in stacking and packing procedures.
Report personnel inadequacies.
Participate in cross-training.
Practice and promote safe work practices, and report unsafe working practices.
Maintain a satisfactory productivity rating.
Proactively help to create and work within a team-based environment and practice effective communication skills.
Train other team members and retain and apply job knowledge.
Demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
Notify appropriate personnel of machine repairs and/or any unsafe conditions.
Possess a working knowledge of material/inventory identification.
Requisition parts and supplies.
Work from a manufacturing requirements schedule.
Perform routine preventive maintenance as necessary.
Perform other duties as required.
