Machine Operator III - Laser - 3rd shift (with shift differential)
About The Position
As a successful Machine Operator (Fabricator), you will be responsible for all aspects of fabrication, including, but not limited to loading and unloading raw materials and work-in-process parts in a variety of tooling, fixtures, and equipment as needed to meet the needs of our customer. Reviewing blueprints and other technical drawings to ensure proper transformations (cuts, bends, holes, etc) are performed on raw and WIP materials. You will work directly with the facilities and maintenance team to ensure equipment and tools are well-maintained and operating optimally. Additionally, you will ensure all parts fabricated are done so to our quality standards and product specifications. In parallel with the physical fabrication of parts, continuously reviewing processes and proposing improvements to best serve our customers will be your focus.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industrial fabrication, ranging from light gauge to heavy gauge materials
- Skilled in kaizen / continuous improvement techniques and works to accomplish projects with a lean manufacturing mindset
- Expertise in producing quality parts using a wide variety of fixtures, tools and equipment in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability and desire to actively train others
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
- Related technical ability and good understanding of production processes and equipment
- Ability to work well in demanding (physical and mental) situations
Nice To Haves
- Metal fabrication experience preferred, but not required
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Trade school certificate in related field
Responsibilities
- Operate saws, presses, drills, and other fabrication equipment to transform raw materials and sub-assemblies according to technical drawings and established cycle times, consistently producing high-quality fabricated components across light gauge to heavy gauge materials.
- Load and unload raw materials and work-in-process parts in a variety of tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Review blueprints and other technical drawings to ensure proper transformations are performed on raw and WIP materials.
- Work directly with the facilities and maintenance team to ensure equipment and tools are well-maintained and operating optimally.
- Ensure all fabricated parts meet quality standards and product specifications.
- Continuously review processes and propose improvements to best serve customers.
- Champion fabrication department safety by completing assigned safety projects and maintaining high safety standards for the team.
- Achieve hourly and daily productivity and quality targets through effective process execution and attention to detail.
- Apply mechanical aptitude and lean manufacturing principles to identify process improvements and kaizen opportunities.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork to drive business results and support customer success in demanding fabrication environments.
