About The Position

This position is responsible for correctly scaling and weighing the proper ingredients for the specified dough mixture scheduled for the shift or shifts. The role also involves maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s).

Requirements

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
  • Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
  • Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Receptive to new ideas, concepts and procedures.
  • Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer high school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.
  • Ability to measure and read scales; understands units of measurement.
  • Ability to recognize problems and take immediate action.

Responsibilities

  • Check schedule to determine the ingredients and the amounts needed to be scaled.
  • Prepare scales for the weighting process.
  • Select specified ingredients for dough mixture.
  • Accurately weigh each ingredient for dough mixture.
  • Sift lumpy ingredients per specified formulas and instructions.
  • Place ingredients in designated bags.
  • Record shift, ingredients, initials on bag.
  • Record all lot numbers on bags.
  • Place ingredients on carts.
  • Communicate changes, instructions, etc. to the next shift scaler.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s) at all times.
  • Report any foreign materials found in product or ingredients to a supervisor immediately.
  • Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
