About The Position

This position is responsible for correctly scaling and weighing the proper ingredients for the specified dough mixture scheduled for the shift. The role also involves maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s).

Requirements

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.

The employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack or cart, and regularly lift up to 70 pounds of boxes/bags of ingredients.
Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting throughout shift.
May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and vibration.
May be required to work in high precarious places and/or in outside weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Check schedule to determine the ingredients and amounts needed for scaling.
Prepare scales for the weighting process.
Select specified ingredients for dough mixture.
Accurately weigh each ingredient for dough mixture.
Sift lumpy ingredients per specified formulas and instructions.
Place ingredients in designated bags.
Record shift, ingredients, and initials on bags.
Record all lot numbers on bags.
Place ingredients on carts.
Communicate changes and instructions to the next shift scaler.
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s) at all times.
Report any foreign materials found in product or ingredients to a supervisor immediately.
Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping and mopping.
