Machine/Equipment Operator - 1st Shift
About The Position
ITW Commercial Construction North America is seeking a Machine Operator for its first shift team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The role is responsible for basic equipment setup and operation to produce products efficiently, safely, and according to quality specifications. The operator works with manufacturing equipment used in metal forming and related production processes, monitors equipment and product quality, and documents checks, scrap, and downtime. The position requires following safety and housekeeping practices, collaborating with team members, and completing supplemental training as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or six months of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to understand basic machinery.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to recognize and identify parts and associated problems, and offer solutions.
- Ability to read drawings and specification sheets and follow instructions.
- Successfully complete supplemental training, including drawing reading, technical math, and measurement tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Manufacturing experience is highly preferred, including equipment setup, operation, changeover, use of measurement tools, and knowledge of preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Follow prescribed safety and housekeeping practices and procedures.
- Assist with setup and operation of metal forming manufacturing equipment, plasma cutters, saws, coating equipment, and spot-welding equipment.
- Meet production standard rates while maintaining high quality and low scrap.
- Monitor machine performance, gauges, and quality output according to instructions.
- Perform quality checks according to standard operating procedures and quality specification sheets.
- Track and document quality checks and scrap for assigned equipment.
- Track machine downtime per shift.
- Work with other team members and participate in team events and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
