About The Position

Behr Paint Company is hiring a first-shift Machine/Filling Operator. Previous manufacturing or paint experience is not required; the company will provide training. Operators cross-train on multiple production lines and are assigned to a line at the start of each workday. On a solo line, the operator oversees filling and case-packing; on a dual-operator line, the operator works with a partner to perform those roles.

The role involves checking products and packaging for defects, periodically weighing cans to confirm filling equipment is within weight parameters, changing over between paints, keeping the cardboard case machine stocked, and helping coworkers as needed. The position requires standing throughout the shift and lifting paint cans or cases weighing up to 50 pounds several times a day. Proper safety equipment, including steel-toed shoes, must be worn.

Responsibilities

• Operate on assigned production lines, performing filling and case-packing duties either independently or with a partner.
• Inspect cans, boxes, lids, and cardboard cases and pull items with defects or packaging problems.
• Periodically weigh cans to verify filling equipment is operating within weight parameters.
• Perform changeovers between different paints.
• Keep the cardboard machine supplied with cases for packing.
• Assist coworkers and other production-line roles as needed.
• Wear required safety equipment, including steel-toed shoes.

Benefits

• Starting pay of $21.50 per hour.
• A $0.50-per-hour increase after six months of employment and another $0.50-per-hour increase after one year.
