About The Position

The Staff LPN works under the direction of the Director of Nurses and provides nursing care in a skilled nursing facility. The position includes maintaining knowledge of each resident, participating in care planning, verifying and administering medications and treatments according to physician orders, and ensuring medication records and storage are accurate, stocked, and secure. The LPN also communicates professionally with residents’ families and legal representatives and supervises and directs aides. The listed shift is 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The job is not remote.

Responsibilities

Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses.
Maintain knowledge of each resident from the resident’s biosketch and family interview.
Participate in resident care plan meetings.
Accept and verify medications delivered from the pharmacy.
Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments.
Administer medications according to physician orders.
Clarify physician orders as needed by contacting the physician or the physician’s designee.
Ensure medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, and dosage changes.
Ensure the medication room is stocked with required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other physician-ordered medications.
Ensure the medication room is secured at all times.
Follow facility policies regarding medication disposal.
Communicate courteously and professionally with resident family members and other legal representatives as needed.
Supervise and give direction to aides.
