About The Position

The Staff LPN works under the direction of the Director of Nurses in a skilled nursing facility. The role involves maintaining knowledge of residents, participating in care planning, receiving and administering medications, verifying and clarifying physician orders, and ensuring medication documentation and supplies are accurate and current. The LPN also communicates professionally with residents’ families and legal representatives, supervises aides, and follows facility policies for medication security and disposal. The listed shift is 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The position is not remote.

Responsibilities

Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses.
Maintain knowledge of each resident from the resident’s biosketch and family interview.
Participate in resident care plan meetings.
Accept and verify medications delivered by the pharmacy.
Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments.
Administer medications according to physician orders.
Clarify physician orders as needed by contacting the physician or the physician’s designee.
Keep medication documentation current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, and dosage changes.
Ensure the medication room is stocked with required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other physician-ordered medications.
Keep the medication room secured at all times.
Follow facility policies regarding medication disposal.
Communicate courteously and professionally with resident family members and other legal representatives as needed.
Supervise and give direction to aides.
