About The Position

The LPN School Nurse provides nursing care to students in a school setting, including students with multiple medical needs. The role includes direct care for illness or injury, health screenings and referrals, medication administration, chronic illness management, and supporting a healthy and safe environment. The nurse also serves as a liaison among the school, families, and physicians; maintains health documentation; educates staff about student health needs and treatments; and completes continuing education and meetings as requested. Other related duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Valid, active LPN license in the state of Georgia.
• BLS certification.
• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing at least 5 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to students who are ill or injured.
• Conduct screenings and make referrals for health care conditions when needed.
• Administer medications and manage chronic illnesses.
• Assist in promoting a healthy, safe environment.
• Act as a liaison between the school, family, and physician.
• Audit immunization records and student health forms.
• Document in the EMR according to school system requirements.
• Educate staff about student health-related issues and treatments as needed.
• Complete online continuing education and attend meetings as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
