The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, competency within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing age and population specific standards. The LPN will perform testing to evaluate resident status, recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations. Key responsibilities include ensuring resident health, comfort, and safety, contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, documenting interactions and outcomes, and counseling residents and families on prevention and treatment plans. The position also requires developing self-care programs through resident education and performing other related duties as assigned. The LPN will work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team, maintaining clear communication and confidentiality.
