The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards. The LPN possesses the ability to perform testing to evaluate resident status, recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations. They ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents, contribute to resident assessments, and administer medications or treatments as ordered. The position also involves providing technical support, documenting resident interactions and outcomes, and counseling residents and families on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a supervisor. The LPN will also develop self-care programs and perform other related duties as assigned.
