About The Position

Chippenham Hospital is seeking an LPN-LVN Extern to support the nursing team in delivering safe, compassionate patient care. As the extern progresses through an LPN-LVN program and builds expertise, they may take on more complex procedures. The role includes assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility and comfort, performing nursing tasks as skills develop, documenting patient information, communicating changes to the nursing team, educating patients and families about care plans, and helping maintain a clean and safe patient environment.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in school to obtain LPN fundamentals.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Vocational school graduate.

Some clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and support patient mobility and comfort.
Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter management, and non-medicated procedures as skills develop.
Document patient information, observations, and changes, and promptly communicate important updates to the nursing team.
Help patients and families understand care plans and prepare for recovery through clear, compassionate education.
Maintain a clean, safe patient environment by following safety protocols, managing equipment, and responding quickly to patient needs.
