This position functions as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the department, with potential for administrative, clinical, or a combination of both roles. In an administrative capacity, the LPN serves as a liaison between physicians and patients, handling phone calls, referring physicians, providing clinical justification for insurance reimbursement, communicating lab results, and patient education, while documenting in Epic. This role may also involve covering clinical care if needed. In a clinical capacity, the LPN prepares and maintains exam rooms, directly interacts with patients by taking vital signs, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and administering medications and vaccines under physician order. Tasks are department-specific and may include assisting with procedures and directing patient flow, with all documentation in Epic. The LPN provides supervised nursing care according to established standards and practices and may assist with administrative coverage if required.
