About The Position

Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine (Rowan-Virtua SOM) is currently seeking a Chair for the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. As an important member of our leadership team, you will lead the Department toward excellence in teaching, research, patient care delivery, administrative services and community activities. Your keen interpersonal skills will allow you to work closely with other Department Chairs to improve the quality, service and financial performance. The clinical arm of the department is within the NeuroMusculoskeletal Institute (NMI) and this position is accountable to the Director of the NMI to ensure delivery of the clinical mission. The scope of your responsibilities will encompass everything from communication of our mission, vision and values, to supporting faculty pursuit of research and scholarly activity, to developing and managing the Department’s budget. In addition, you will motivate your team by assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and as chief mentor, you will identify the needs of students, faculty, patients, staff, affiliates and communities, and you will take decisive actions to meet those needs. A vital part of your success will be your ability to ensure the school is prepared for medical excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • AOA Board Certified
  • Clinical expertise in NMM/OMM
  • At least five years of professional experience that includes academic experience.
  • Academic and professional experience necessary to qualify at the rank of Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor
  • Demonstrate and provide examples of leadership (i.e. previous departmental leadership positions, involvement in regional/national organizations, etc.)
  • Demonstrate and provide examples of teambuilding (i.e. previous successes, experience, interpersonal skills)
  • Demonstrate and provide examples of academic strength (i.e. teaching experience, serving as principal investigator on one or more funded research projects, experience, publications)
  • Demonstrate and provide examples of clinical strength (peer recognition, reputation, patient satisfaction)
  • Demonstrate and provide examples of management strength (coaching, type and quality of management experience, advanced degree with experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
