About The Position

Under the direction of the Access Manager, the Appointment Business Center LPN will navigate and perform patient scheduling, referral management of internal and external patient referrals, and will triage complex scheduling request in electronic health record systems. The LPN will work closely with Endoscopy Service Line, clinics, and providers to appropriately schedule new and returning patients from internal or external provider referrals.

Requirements

  • High School, GED or formal educational equivalent.
  • Graduate of accredited LPN nursing program
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of Practical Nursing experience
  • Valid Practical Nursing License

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and requesting clinical documentation as appropriate.
  • Identifying, differentiating, or ruling out non-urgent/urgent, non-acute/acute, emergent, life-threatening symptoms in order to provide safe and timely disposition of referrals.
  • Responding to patient inquiries, prioritizing responses and routing urgent situations to an appropriate provider.
  • Maintaining accurate and appropriate documentation and following patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA and UAMS policies and procedures.
  • Performing to the level of a licensed practical nurse as dictated by the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act and UAMS.
  • Utilizing decision making software and the application of a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents relating to both the standards and procedures of the nursing profession and those established by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

  • Communicating and sharing complete and unbiased information, assuring colleagues receive timely, complete, and accurate information to make informed decisions.
  • Participating in institutional initiatives and encouraging the participation of others.
  • Collaborating in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
  • Performing all duties in accordance with the UAMS Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care set forth by UAMS.
