About The Position

Raytheon is hiring a Low Observables Materials Engineer to support material and process development, characterization, and system-level integration across Raytheon product lines and new business. The role supports development, production, and maintenance of low-observable weapon systems, including next-generation materials and advanced signature-control techniques. The engineer will predict and measure material performance in developmental and production systems, conduct measurements of constitutive and RF attenuation properties, and use Computational Electromagnetic Codes (CEM) tools to generate predicted material performance. The position works with integrated product teams to incorporate signature-control techniques into deliverable products and assess system performance. Responsibilities also include material formulation and development, fabrication process development, composites operations support, RF/mechanical/physical testing and characterization, engineering documentation, customer and supplier interaction, program reviews, project management, mentoring early-career engineers, and potentially serving as Materials Lead on Integrated Product Teams. This is an onsite position in Tucson, Arizona. An active, transferable U.S. government security clearance is required before starting; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in low observables or radar materials.
  • Experience in material characterization, performance testing or prediction, design, material down-selection, or integration onto an air vehicle.
  • Experience collaborating with customers and suppliers.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance before the start date; current Secret clearance is specified.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required for security clearance eligibility.

Nice To Haves
