Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and addresses internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions according to established policies and guidelines, and communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives. It also supports store shrink-reduction goals and promotes safety awareness and a safe environment. The position requires courteous, knowledgeable customer service, confidentiality, sound judgment, and accurate, timely completion and distribution of paperwork. The detective maintains appropriate evidence, understands law enforcement procedures, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed. The position is based at TJ Maxx Store 0689 in Aliso Viejo, California. Starting pay is $16.90–$20.40 per hour, with actual pay determined by relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
