Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. It also supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position provides courteous, knowledgeable customer service and promotes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. It participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned, completes related paperwork accurately and on time, and maintains appropriate evidence. The Detective demonstrates understanding of law enforcement procedures and participates professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures.

- 0–2 years of retail or security experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Follow established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, including police calls.
- Coordinate shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associates to use shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
