About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Loss Prevention Associate for a food market in Lower Manhattan. The role supports the company’s purpose of providing service, systems, and solutions to serve, secure, and care for the people and businesses in its communities. The associate is expected to have experience in loss prevention, particularly apprehending shoplifters. Previous security experience and former military or law enforcement experience are encouraged.

The available shift is 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Candidates must be flexible to work Monday through Sunday, including evenings and weekends, and able to travel to store locations within 25 miles of home. The pay rate is $25.63 per hour.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have at least two years of security experience.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Demonstrate effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and deal professionally with all levels of personnel and the general public.
• Complete a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws.
• Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client-specific sites.
• Be able to travel to store locations within 25 miles of home.
• Be able to work retail store hours, including evenings and weekends, and be flexible Monday through Sunday.
• Have general operating knowledge of retail security camera equipment.
• Be able to work in cold, rainy, snowy, or hot conditions; occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds; occasionally climb stairs, ramps, or ladders; and stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods.
• Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous law enforcement or military experience.
• Prior retail loss prevention experience.
• Undercover experience.
• Previous security experience or experience in apprehending shoplifters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct customer surveillance while walking the sales floor and blend into a retail environment.
• Detect and apprehend shoplifters in accordance with company policy and guidelines.
• Handle crisis situations at the client site calmly and efficiently.
• Operate client-specific wireless technology and retail security camera equipment.
• Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with personnel and the general public.
