About The Position

The Logistics Yard Coordinator executes daily trailer movement within Target’s Distribution Center yards. The role promotes a safety-first culture through awareness, training, and accountability, working with carriers to ensure compliance with safety expectations and promptly address unsafe acts. The coordinator operates Target-owned vehicles to perform yard audits, which may include travel to an offsite yard depending on facility location, and keeps the yard management system current with trailer status. The role also ensures trailers are admitted according to current best practices and communicates trailer needs, movements, and progress to Distribution Center executives.

The coordinator monitors trailer releases to help meet scheduled store deliveries and maintains accountability for Target equipment by conducting trailer inventories and ensuring equipment is available for preventive maintenance checks. Working cross-functionally with First Mile Transportation, the coordinator monitors trailer pools and freight-flow volatility to keep yards within operational thresholds and safe. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license for the state of employment, maintained throughout employment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask.
• Experience working in a high-volume, high-activity environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily trailer movements within Target’s Distribution Center yards.

• Work with carriers to ensure safety expectations are followed and promptly address unsafe acts.
• Operate Target-owned vehicles to conduct yard audits, which may include driving to an offsite yard.
• Keep the yard management system updated to reflect the current status of all trailers.
• Ensure trailers are admitted according to current best practices.
• Communicate trailer needs, movements, and progress effectively to Distribution Center executives.
• Monitor trailer releases to help ensure trailers meet scheduled deliveries to stores.
• Maintain accountability for Target equipment by conducting trailer inventories and ensuring equipment is available for preventive maintenance checks.
• Work cross-functionally with First Mile Transportation to monitor trailer pools and freight-flow volatility and keep yards within threshold and safe.
