Logistics Yard Coordinator

Target•Detroit, MI

About The Position

As a Logistics Yard Coordinator, you are responsible for executing daily trailer movement within Target’s Distribution Center Yards. You will foster a “safety first” culture through awareness, training and accountability, working with carriers to ensure they follow safety expectations and maintain a safe work environment for drivers entering the yard. You will identify unsafe acts and work to address them immediately. You will operate Target-owned vehicles to execute yard audit routines, which may involve driving to an offsite yard depending on facility location. You will keep the yard management system updated to reflect the current status of all trailers and ensure trailers are admitted according to current best practices. You will communicate effectively with DC executives regarding trailer needs, movement and progress; monitor trailer releases to ensure trailers meet scheduled store deliveries; and maintain accountability for Target equipment. This includes conducting trailer inventories and ensuring equipment is available for preventive maintenance checks. You will also work cross-functionally with First Mile Transportation to monitor trailer pools and freight-flow volatility, helping ensure yards remain within threshold and safe. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
