Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Logistics & Procurement Manager is responsible for developing, planning, forecasting, managing, coordinating, and communicating production scheduling and long-term capacity forecasting to ensure that on-time deliveries will be achieved in accordance with customer, corporate, and financial objectives. This role interacts with manufacturing personnel, Engineering, and Quality Assurance to successfully manage materials and production planning to meet sales goals. The incumbent will utilize SAP to develop and execute significant material pipeline savings projects. He/she will negotiate and execute agreements with vendors/suppliers. This role will also effectively lead, develop, supervise & evaluate production planning/control, purchasing, and shipping staff to develop teamwork and continuous service and support for manufacturing and customer service. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field combined with a minimum of 10+ years of experience including prior management duties preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • 15+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced computer skills: SAP or other ERP/APS software experience required.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at various levels of management.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Works with plant leadership and manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering Teams to ensure that procurement plans, shipping plans and production plans are aligned, and are communicated in a timely and professional manner to ensure that shipments are delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Owns the coordination of the activities for personnel engaged in production planning, order entry, purchasing, and shipping/receiving functions at the Newark and Hebron production facilities.
  • Works with team to establish and coordinate production schedules.
  • Ensures the flow of raw material and work in-progress between manufacturing locations and within departments.
  • Implements procedures to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Reviews work orders to plan and schedule plant production cost-effectively, addressing customer needs.
  • Coordinates with all functions to create appropriate production schedule that considers: Customer needs Plant productivity Availability of raw material Shipping options Cost effectiveness
  • Oversees physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Develops and maintains supplier relationships while analyzing supplier quality and costs.
  • Communicates with Production and Customer Service on delays, interruptions, difficulties, and reprioritization.
  • Creates and distributes exception reports: materials, deliveries, schedule adherence.
  • Monitors and reports on plant compliance with the sales plan.
  • Runs lead time reports, analyzes data, and shares with managers.
  • Provides interpretations and administers Plant and Company policies within the department.
  • Identifies and initiates process improvement activities using appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Provides training and opportunities for involvement and personal development to subordinates.
  • Maintains measures of effectiveness and monitors budgetary commitments for the department.
