About The Position

Are you a driven logistics and supply chain professional who enjoys making a difference? Consider joining the Metal Exchange family as a Logistics Coordinator in our Primary Aluminum business unit, based in our St. Louis, MO headquarters. In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating with freight companies, coordinating warehouse releases, and shipping metal products to our valued customers while developing strong relationships with a variety of counterparties. The Logistics Coordinator has the opportunity to collaborate with team members to identify and execute creative solutions which positively impact our results. This position also provides support across key supply chain activities to help ensure seamless execution and continuity of operations. The individual must have the highest degree of integrity, be decisive, and have a thirst for learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, transportation, and customer service.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Concise and accurate written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and make sound decisions based on frequently changing factors.
  • Customer focused and dedicated to outstanding service with counterparties.
  • Results oriented; takes initiative to improve personal productivity and pursues results in the face of barriers and setbacks.
  • Team player with the ability to build relationships and effectively interact both internally and externally with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Must have regular attendance and be available to work onsite 3-days per week in our St. Louis, MO office.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules loads with transportation vendors, including rescheduling as needed.
  • Issues dispatch documentation to carriers.
  • Tracks and traces shipments and communicates information to internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiates favorable rates and services to move shipments by truck, rail, barge, or ocean in support of existing and new business opportunities.
  • Records shipment details accurately in company systems of record.
  • Dispatches shipments to carriers according to customer requirements.
  • Assists in resolving freight invoice discrepancies.
  • Calls and solicits new asset carriers and freight brokers to reduce costs and improve service.
  • Coordinates warehouse releases by allocating inventory, issuing release instructions to warehouse providers, and ensuring material is available for timely customer shipment.
  • Performs month-end inventory reconciliations by comparing trading system inventory records to third-party warehouse reports, identifies and investigates discrepancies, and coordinates resolution with warehouse providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with third-party transportation, warehouse, and storage providers to support efficient movement and storage of material.
  • Updates Order Status spreadsheet with purchase, sale, and inventory allocations, identifies long and short positions by commodity, location, and delivery month.
  • Completes daily trading system shipment settlements with an understanding of financial and physical risk management. Edits contracts as needed.
  • Provides appropriate, consistent, and timely communication with internal and external customers.
  • Applies customer service skills to create and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and consumers.
  • Accurately processes shipment details in our trading system.
  • Creates documentation including dispatch sheets, packing lists, delivery orders, and U.S. Customs-related documents pertinent to the movement of international cargo.
  • Provides backup support for Supply Chain Coordinator responsibilities, including inventory allocation, warehouse coordination, contract administration, order status management, and other supply chain activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
