The Logistics Coordinator position is responsible for increasing the effectiveness of the company’s transportation network by managing external transportation providers, lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and maintaining customer satisfaction, as well as developing internal processes and programs to improve logistics costs. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing team activities to meet or exceed established goals in a cost-effective manner. The coordinator will also train new associates, manage departmental processes, and lead a motivated team environment. Key responsibilities include supporting team member activities, managing vacation and timecard approvals, coordinating parts delivery, supporting inventory reduction initiatives, and assisting in reducing supplier past due part shipments. The role also involves monitoring service contract compliance, establishing import/export policies, developing operational metrics, and maintaining a logistics scorecard. Continuous management and review of Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers, monitoring industry trends, and leading projects to improve logistics activities are also crucial. The coordinator will act as the primary contact for day-to-day transportation support, including domestic and international freight movements and import/export compliance. They will coordinate inbound shipment processes to ensure high performance in cost reduction, on-time delivery, and lead-times. Establishing standard reporting, monitoring shipments, and proactively following up on freight issues are essential. The role includes reviewing freight invoices, monitoring shipment transactions for accuracy, and holding 3PL providers accountable for LTL, TL, and small parcel shipments. Analysis of expenditures and financial information for continuous improvement, suggesting operations policies, and directing investigations into carrier/shipment complaints are also part of the duties. Support for parts packaging, internal inventory activities, and minimizing supplier past due shipments are included. The coordinator will prepare reports, develop and manage the department budget, and communicate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
