About The Position
This role involves providing critical care services in an inpatient setting. The physician will be responsible for performing various procedures, managing patients on ventilators, and utilizing electronic medical records for documentation. The position requires a physician with current ACLS certification, board certification or eligibility, and an active Michigan medical license or IMLC participation. A minimum of 50 case logs within the past 12 months is also required.
Requirements
- Proficient in moderate sedation.
- Skilled in performing lumbar punctures.
- Competent in endotracheal intubation and extubation.
- Experienced in paracentesis and thoracentesis.
- Ventilator management expertise.
- Chest tube insertion capabilities.
- Insertion of various access lines including PICC lines, arterial lines, and central venous catheters, either percutaneously or via cutdown technique.
- Arterial line insertion and removal (both radial and femoral).
- Proficient in tracheostomy care, including tube replacement.
- Management of tension pneumothorax in emergent scenarios.
- External pacing capabilities.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Demonstrated experience: Minimum of 50 case logs within the past 12 months.
- Board Certification (or valid Board Eligibility).
- Clean OIG search.
- Holds an active Michigan medical license or is part of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).

- Must complete 5 supervised cases for each procedure listed (proctoring requirements).
Responsibilities
- Perform inpatient rounds in a critical care setting.
- Proficiently administer moderate sedation.
- Perform lumbar punctures.
- Competently perform endotracheal intubation and extubation.
- Perform paracentesis and thoracentesis.
- Manage ventilators, including assessing patient readiness for weaning and oxygen therapy, and assessing the necessity for intubation.
- Perform chest tube insertion.
- Insert various access lines including PICC lines, arterial lines, and central venous catheters, either percutaneously or via cutdown technique.
- Perform arterial line insertion and removal (both radial and femoral).
- Provide tracheostomy care, including tube replacement.
- Manage tension pneumothorax in emergent scenarios.
- Perform external pacing, including adjustments to temporary epicardial, transvenous, or transcutaneous pacemakers as needed.
- Utilize EPIC and Dragon for documentation.
