Requirements
- Associate degree or higher in Physician Assistant studies
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Experience in a surgical or cardiothoracic setting preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols
- First and second assist experience in the OR
- Post-cardiac surgery recovery care experience in an ICU setting
- Board-certification required
Responsibilities
- Assist in surgical procedures within the cardiothoracic surgery department
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative care for patients
- Collaborate with surgeons and medical staff to develop treatment plans
- Monitor patient progress and address any complications
- Educate patients and families on treatment options and post-operative care
- Document patient information accurately in medical records
- Participate in surgical rounds and team meetings
- Stay current with advancements in cardiothoracic surgery practices
