About The Position

This is a full-time coverage position for a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at a Level I trauma center. The role involves inpatient, OR, and call coverage. The assignment length is from July 6 to August 31, with a start date of July 6. This coverage is needed due to a long-term permanent search. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The facility uses Cerner for its EMR system, and credentialing takes approximately 30 days.

Requirements

• Active Florida licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Florida
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
• Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Florida
• National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
