About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to provide medical care, medication management, and clinical oversight in a detox and residential substance use disorder treatment setting. This role emphasizes patient stabilization, interdisciplinary collaboration, accurate documentation, and regulatory compliance, allowing clinicians to practice thoughtfully in a structured, supportive environment. The facility is a 100-bed detox and inpatient substance use disorder treatment facility with a continuously growing space that brings all medical and clinical services under one roof, supporting coordinated, patient-centered care in a behavioral health setting. The 24/7 medical and clinical teams provide compassionate, dignified care focused on patient stabilization, safety, and recovery. The collaborative atmosphere, built by both staff and clients, creates a supportive environment where quality care and clinical integrity come first.

Requirements

Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA-C) license in Colorado
Active DEA registration
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Nice To Haves

Experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, psychiatry, or mental health (1+ year preferred)

Responsibilities

Conduct medical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide medical monitoring and medication management in detox and residential care
Stabilize patients with substance use disorders to support engagement in treatment
Order and review medications, labs, and urine drug screens (UDS)
Document all medical care in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Collaborate with medical, clinical, and utilization review (UR) teams
Ensure compliance with state regulations, JCAHO, CARF, and ASAM standards
Manage daily and weekly patient schedules efficiently
