Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Radiation Oncology
About The Position
This is a contract, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality radiation oncology care in a collaborative clinical environment. As a locum physician, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of patient care while working alongside a dedicated team of healthcare professionals in the medical practice industry. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients using radiation therapy techniques while adhering to the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and nursing staff, to develop and execute individualized treatment plans that improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution
- Board certification or board eligibility in Radiation Oncology
- Associate-level clinical experience in radiation oncology
- Active and unrestricted medical license in good standing
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy techniques and treatment planning
- Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
- Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with patients and colleagues
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, on-site clinical team
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous improvement
- Willingness to work on a contract basis in Lexington
- Availability to begin promptly and maintain consistent on-site presence
- Must be board-certified or board-eligible
- BLS and DEA required

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose patients referred for radiation oncology treatment
- Develop and oversee individualized radiation therapy treatment plans
- Collaborate with medical physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists
- Perform and interpret relevant diagnostic imaging and staging studies
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
- Manage acute and chronic side effects of radiation therapy
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and case reviews
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards
- Provide compassionate communication and education to patients and families
- Coordinate care with referring physicians and other specialists
- Stay current with advancements in radiation oncology practices and technologies
- Oversee treatments, new consults, follow-ups, planning, status checks, and tumor conference participation
