About The Position

This on-site, contract position offers an exciting opportunity for an Associate-level physician to deliver high-quality anesthesia care in a dynamic healthcare environment. As a Locum Anesthesiology physician, you will be an integral part of our clinical team, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout surgical procedures. You will collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional perioperative care, from preoperative assessments to postoperative pain management, while maintaining the highest standards of medical practice. This role is located in St. Louis.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in Anesthesiology
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Missouri or ability to obtain licensure
  • Valid DEA registration and controlled substance certification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of anesthesiology experience, consistent with Associate level
  • Strong clinical skills in general, regional, and MAC anesthesia
  • Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site medical environment
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care standards
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Must be willing to work with residents, CRNAs, and CAAs
  • Must be board-certified
  • ACLS and BLS required

Nice To Haves

  • PALS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive preoperative anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthesia plans
  • Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels during surgical procedures
  • Manage postoperative pain and provide acute pain management services
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologist assistants, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Respond promptly to anesthesia-related emergencies and adverse reactions
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records and anesthesia documentation
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
  • Provide guidance and support to anesthesia technicians and other team members
  • Ensure availability for on-call duties and emergency procedures as required
