Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Psychiatry
About The Position
This is an on-site, contract position designed for an Associate-level physician who is passionate about delivering high-quality mental health care to patients in need. As part of our team, you will work in a collaborative clinical environment where patient outcomes and compassionate care are the top priorities. In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and more complex mental health presentations. You will provide both medication management and therapeutic guidance, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans. Your clinical expertise will directly contribute to improving the well-being of patients across the community.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry is strongly preferred.
- Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Illinois.
- Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
- Experience in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment at an Associate level.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Level II Trauma
- Must be board-certified
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring patient response and adjusting as needed.
- Provide psychotherapy services, including individual, group, and family sessions where applicable.
- Collaborate with primary care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Participate in case reviews, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with advances in psychiatric medicine and incorporate them into clinical practice.
