As a Locum Gastroenterology Physician, you will play a critical role in diagnosing and managing a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, performing essential procedures, and collaborating with our multidisciplinary medical team. This position is ideal for an Associate-level physician who thrives in a hands-on clinical setting and is committed to delivering patient-centered care in line with the highest standards of medical practice.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Virginia.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures, including polypectomy, biopsy, and hemorrhoid banding.
  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in acute and routine care settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Willingness to adhere to a contract-based, on-site schedule as required by the medical practice.
  • EUS and ERCP required
  • Must be board-certified

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with gastrointestinal conditions and disorders.
  • Perform endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy with accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other specialists to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Document patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans thoroughly and in a timely manner in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Participate in on-site clinical rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable medical regulations, hospital policies, and professional standards of practice.
