About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of locksmith duties in the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of locks, keys, and related security hardware for the District. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a locksmith.
Knowledge of various types of locks, keys, and security hardware.
Proficiency in lock picking, rekeying, and lock repair.
Experience with key control systems and record keeping.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Certification from a professional locksmith association (e.g., ALOA).
Experience with electronic access control systems.
Experience working in a school district or similar public institution.

Responsibilities

Opens and repairs locks; installs new lock cylinders, mortise locks, and other hardware.
Cuts new keys and duplicates existing keys.
Maintains and updates key control system and records.
Services and repairs door hardware, including closers, hinges, and panic bars.
Performs preventative maintenance on locks and related hardware.
Assists with the installation and maintenance of electronic security systems, such as card readers and cameras.
Responds to emergency lock-out calls.
Maintains an inventory of locks, keys, and related hardware.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
Operates a variety of tools and equipment related to locksmithing.
