About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of locksmith duties in the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of locks, keys, and related security hardware for the District. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a locksmith.
  • Knowledge of various types of locks, keys, and security hardware.
  • Proficiency in lock picking, rekeying, and lock repair.
  • Experience with key control systems and record keeping.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a professional locksmith association (e.g., ALOA).
  • Experience with electronic access control systems.
  • Experience working in a school district or similar public institution.

Responsibilities

  • Opens and repairs locks; installs new lock cylinders, mortise locks, and other hardware.
  • Cuts new keys and duplicates existing keys.
  • Maintains and updates key control system and records.
  • Services and repairs door hardware, including closers, hinges, and panic bars.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on locks and related hardware.
  • Assists with the installation and maintenance of electronic security systems, such as card readers and cameras.
  • Responds to emergency lock-out calls.
  • Maintains an inventory of locks, keys, and related hardware.
  • Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Operates a variety of tools and equipment related to locksmithing.
