About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of locksmith duties in the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of locks, keys, and related security hardware for District facilities. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a locksmith.
Knowledge of various types of locks, keys, and security systems, including electronic and card access systems.
Proficiency in the use of locksmith tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
Valid Nevada driver's license.
Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Certification from a professional locksmith association (e.g., Associated Locksmiths of America - ALOA).
Experience with electronic security systems and access control software.
Experience working in a school district or similar public institution.

Responsibilities

Opens, repairs, and services all types of locks, including standard, high-security, electronic, and card access systems.
Installs new lock systems and hardware.
Cuts new keys and re-keys existing locks.
Maintains an inventory of locks, keys, and related hardware.
Performs routine maintenance and inspections of locking mechanisms.
Responds to emergency lock-out situations.
Maintains records of key issuance and lock changes.
Operates a variety of locksmith tools and equipment.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
