The working hours for this position are Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm. This classification is an Essential Position. The employee in this position is required to be present at work even when the University closes or experiences a late start and/or early closure. This position is responsible for performing skilled work in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, and electronically controlled locks and devices. The assigned work involves installing new locking mechanisms per applicable codes and specifications; troubleshooting key and locking device problems; performing repairs, adjustments, and parts replacement; disassembling, resetting or re-pinning, and reassembling locks; fabricating master and replacement keys; and maintaining corresponding inventories and records. Work may involve accessing a variety of software platforms to identify issues with electronically controlled locks to address the mechanical and electronic issues with these devices. If employee does not possess CIL (Certified Institutional Locksmith) certification, one must acquire certification during probationary period.
