About The Position

The Locate Technician accurately identifies and marks underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction activities. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety standards to help prevent damage to critical infrastructure and protect public safety. The position is located in Kernersville, North Carolina; salary is undisclosed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field.
• Proven experience working with utility maps and blueprints.
• Experience using electronic locating equipment and GPS technology.
• Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and underground utilities.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with electronic locating equipment and GPS devices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.
• Interpret and analyze utility maps and blueprints to locate utilities precisely.
• Communicate utility-location information clearly to construction teams and other stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed records of markings and surveys and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and damage during excavation activities.
• Stay informed about industry standards, technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to utility locating.
• Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and new team members as needed.
• Respond promptly to emergency locate requests.
